G. Joe Blaker, BSc PhD Cchem FRSC FIChemE - Chairman

Joe Blaker joined Genosis in January 2005, and has over 35 years of experience in international pharmaceutical and fine chemical operations. He has had a variety of non-executive Board appointments and senior advisory roles, and currently holds non-executive positions with IDEA AG (Chairman of the Supervisory Board), Thomas Swan & Co Ltd and Patheon Inc.

Paul Bateman BSc - Chief Executive Officer

Paul Bateman founded Genosis in January 1998 and was appointed CEO in June 1999. He has 17 years experience in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, in large and start-up companies, with over 15 years experience in reproductive medicine. Before founding Genosis, Mr Bateman was director of European sales for Conceptus Inc., a medical device company focused on less-invasive diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological disorders. He holds a first class degree from Manchester University (Chemistry).

Gordon Forrest BSc PhD - Non-executive Director

Dr Forrest joined Genosis as a non-executive director in April 1999. He was previously co-founder of Anagen PLC, a diagnostic company focusing on automated immunoassay, which floated on the LSE in June 1993. Prior to Anagen, where he headed the company's development programme, he was technical director for Serono Diagnostics Ltd. Dr Forrest was a director of Acolyte Biomedica Ltd and a non-executive director of Molecular Sensing PLC, he is currently a non-executive director of Diagnostic Potentials Ltd where he represents The Wellcome Trust. He is a member of the Wellcome Trust's Technology Transfer Challenge Committee.

Jonathan RHH Pockson MA MSc FCA - CFO

Jonathan Pockson joined Genosis in December 2006 as Chief Financial Officer. He has spent the last thirteen years in the bio pharmaceutical industry and has recently returned to the UK from Washington DC where he was Senior Vice President with Emergent BioSolutions Inc, the vaccines company specialising in the supply of anthrax vaccine for the US military and for government stockpiling. Emergent is quoted on the New York Stock Exchange and has operations in the US, Europe and Singapore. Prior to that he was CFO of Microscience plc, based in the UK the private biopharmaceutical company specialising in the development of vaccines to counteract infectious diseases.

He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1973 and gained two masters degrees from the University of Lancaster in Accounting, Finance and Law. In 1978 his research into accountants’ professional negligence was published by Macmillans. He has worked within a number of industries since qualifying notably The BOC Group plc, Staveley Industries plc and Provalis plc. in various financial positions. Jonathan  has considerable experience in the running of biopharmaceutical companies and has raised substantial finance for those companies either privately or in the public capital markets in both Europe and the US.
